La Scala, Milan, gives major contract to Jose Carbo in 2009

From treading the dizzying heights of building scaffolding to the boards of the top opera houses of the world may seem unusual but Jose Carbo, Australia’s latest baritone star has made the transition smoothly and is making his mark in international operatic circles.
After finishing the role of ‘Belcore’ for the Royal Theatre in Madrid earlier this year and recording Figaro for the Swiss Symphony Orchestra - the mecca of opera worldwide, La Scala in Milan, have since offered the Argentinian born powerhouse a major contract in 2009.
Other contracts have also been rushing in from the Lyon Opera, the Liceo in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid and Teatro Reggio Emilia in Turino.
Not to mention the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden showing very serious consideration in securing the extraordinary talents of this rising export star who will be following in the very illustrious footsteps of international Australian operatic stars before him such as Dame Joan Sutherland, Yvonne Kenny and Donald Smith.
