Testimonials

"A thoroughly enjoyable, witty and entertaining performance. An excellent combination of opera and pop music. An outstanding Beatles medley. Beautiful stunning gowns. Once you have attended a performance by Sirens, you will love opera forever."  Carol Reberger – Logan Entertainment Centre

“ Excellent, fantastic performance – a great idea. It was a pleasure to work with you” IBM Dinner, Versace Hotel, Georgina Jorgensen, CI Events

“We knew we were in for a treat when we read the biograhies of these young up and coming opera singers but when they made us laugh at their hilarious characters, cry with their voices and be taken away to another world we thought these girls have struck gold. They will be one  of the next big acts to hit the Australian and international circuits and we sincerely hope they take on the world. They are world class superior entertainers! An absolute pleasure” Shirley and John Graham, Logan Entertainment Centre

“ I  travelled from London to stay with friends in Mackay and they dragged me along kicking and screaming to see Sirens of Song perform as a part of Opera in the Caneyards. They were exhillerating, funny and SO sexy and talented. Good on you. Hope to see you on the West End soon.” Lee Trevlin, Mackay Festival of the Arts

“ An experience of sensory delights. Thank you. ”  Susan Rider, Mackay Festival of the Arts – Opera in the Caneyards

Sirens of Song are convinced that the one of the ways to really make opera accessible is to fuse it with other more well known musical styles in our – thus Comic Popera; and that is just what we have done. Let us give you a few examples -

  • a techno beat combined with a beautiful operatic tune
  • Beatles Medley sung with operatic aplomb,
  • I Will Survive, the famous Gloria Gaynor song, sung to updated words with hysterical consequences
  • and of course, the famous Three Tenors get a right beating as the two girls remind the crowd – it really doesn’t matter how many there are – after all, all it really takes is one good one!  This is then finshed off with the superior soprano version of that famous tenor aria Nessun Dorma...

Sirens of Song use backing tracks recorded exclusively by the Queensland Orchestra together with a live pianist and singer, Glenn Amer on the stage. The use of a live musician on stage creates the opportunity to create different musical textures with the backing tracks and gives the audience a feeling of a live band in the room. Not to mention the fact that the pianist we use just happens to sing as well and forms an integral part of our concert show.

Our two divine Sirens take you to a land of fantasy, imagination and melodrama. Opera singers offstage are often great friends but put them on stage and their competitive natures as divas comes to the fore with upstaging, subtle but cutting remarks and looks that could kill. So sit back and relax whilst Babara and Carmen take you on an operatic journey! Hold on to your husbands ladies!
