Profile

In the last few years Jane has been finalist in the New York Study Award, the McDonald's Operatic Aria, the Covent Garden Award, the Metropolitan Opera Study Award and 1st reserve finalist for the German Operatic Award.

Jane is currently a full-time chorister with Opera Australia and also performs and covers roles. Last year Jane performed Edith and Isabel in Opera Australia's national tour of the Pirates of Penzance and the roles of Gretel and the Witch in Opera Australia's Schools tour of 'Hansel and Gretel'. This was her fourth Schools tour, having performed Clown/Juggler in 'Sid the Serpent', Pamina in 'The Magic Flute' and the Witch in 'Hansel and Gretel' in 2000. Also for Opera Australia Jane has performed as a chorister and cover to the role of Celia in 'Iolanthe'.

Other operatic roles include Pamina for Pacific Opera, Giulietta/Stella in 'The Tales of Hoffman' for Sydney University Madrigal Society, Sa Femme in 'Le Pauvre Matelot' for the Sydney Conservatorium and creating the soprano roles in the new Australian opera 'The Flight of Les Darcy' for Music Theatre Sydney. In 2004 Jane toured as a backing singer with both the 'Anthony Warlow and Lesley Garrett - Magic of Music' tour and the 'Russell Watson -The Voice' tour. Jane will be featured in a segment of the ABC program "Sleek Geeks" in October.

Concert engagements include Canteloube's 'Chants d'Auvergne' with the Sydney Youth Orchestra, Vaughan Williams 'Dona Nobis Pacem' for the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and Choir, 'The Seasonings' and 'The Wife of Bath' with Macquarie University Singers, Handel's 'Messiah' and 'Ode to St Cecilia's Day' for Orange Civic Choir, singing Elsa in excerpts of 'Lohengrin' for a live ABC radio broadcast under the baton of Maestro Carlo Fellice Cillario, and two operatic spectaculars for L'Ecole de Musique in Noumea - the last a concert of Mozart repertoire televised internationally on France's RFO channel.

Jane holds a Diploma of Opera from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, a Bachelor of Creative Arts from Wollongong University and an AMEB Licentiate of Music in Singing. She is currently studying voice with Anna Connelly.
