Profile
Harriet is currently studying a Masters of Music (Opera) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Patricia Price. Prior to this she studied voice at the WA Academy of Performing Arts for two years.
Harriet's love of the stage was influenced by her training in classical ballet and by an appearance at a young age as Papagena in an adaptation of Mozart's opera The Magic Flute. She made a significant deviation from this path when she embarked on a career as a criminal lawyer, practising at the Aboriginal Legal Service in WA. In 2002 she made the decision to change professions.
She was a member of the WA Opera Company chorus in productions of Cavalleria Rusticana, I Pagliacci, Batavia, Nostradamus and The Creation. At WAAPA Harriet performed the role of La Speranza in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo and Mrs Hildebrand in Street Scene (Weill).
Harriet has participated in master-classes with Dame Joan Sutherland and Dennis O'Neill and has performed numerous concerts and public recitals with Sharolyn Kimmorley, one of Australia's finest accompanists.
In 2004 she performed the role of Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and in October 2005 she appeared as Nerina in the Australian premiere of Haydn's La Fedelta Premiata. Harriet recently performed the soprano solo in Dvorak's Te Deum which was recorded for ABC Classic FM. |
